Emmaus Furniture Mine is the largest household charity shop in North Staffordshire working towards our ambition to introduce to North Staffs new ways to tackle entrenched homelessness and unemployment by enabling and empowering people to help themselves through meaningful activity that will benefit both themselves and others.
Emmaus are seeking volunteers in the following roles:
- vans crew team – assist the driver with delivering and collecting furniture & other items (physically demanding role)
- retail – to assist the shop assistant with keeping the shop tidy, displays fresh and attractive, helping customers
incoming goods – to help sort all incoming ‘small’ items (bric-a-brac, clothes, shoes, bags, books, music, electrical items, etc)
- online retail – assisting with running our eBay store
- warehouse – assist the warehouse manager is moving stock, keeping the area fresh and attractive, supporting the vans team bringing collections back in
Volunteers are offered lunch and reimbursement of reasonable bus fares for each day of volunteering undertaken. We also have in-house support and training opportunities for our volunteers who have been unemployed for a long time, those who are homeless or at risk of being so, people who want to gain work-based experience or want to help in their community.
